Middle finger is the third finger of human. It is in between index finger and ring finger. According to our Thai traditional belief, middle finger is Saturn finger. If a middle finger is long, that means you are a peaceful person and like to learn. If your middle finger is quite thick and square, that means you have deep thoughts. If your middle finger is short, or have flaw, that means you do not take any interest in anything. If your middle finger is longer than you palm, that means you are a thorough person. If your middle finger is shorter than you palm, that means you are short-tempered, and usually make blunt decision.
Middle finger is important because the luck line lies upon it, which means career path and way of life. It is the finger that represents our direct personality. In other book, it said that if the middle finger is too long, it means you are a mope, if too long means you are restless. The straighter the better, if it is crooked, that means you see yourself more superior than other. If middle finger bends back too much, it means you are in poverty, or you are an orphan from a very young age.
However, if you have a line runs around you middle finger, no matter how happy you are, you will always sad inside. If you have a cross close to the knuckle of your middle finger, it is not good. If it is a flaw or crooked, it means you have to be far away from your mother. Therefore, if we put a ring there, it is like putting an obstacle to it. That is why they said we should wear no ring on our middle finger.

นิ้วกลาง คือนิ้วที่สามบนมือของมนุษย์ อยู่ระหว่างนิ้วชี้และนิ้วนาง ตามความเชื่อโบราณของไทย เราเชื่อกันว่า นิ้วกลางเป็นนิ้วของดาวเสาร์ ถ้านิ้วยาวแสดงว่าเป็นคนรักความสงบ ชอบการศึกษาและถ้าเป็นสี่เหลี่ยมและหนา แสดงว่ามีความคิดลึกซึ้ง ถ้านิ้วสั้นหรือมีตำหนิ จะไม่เอาใจใส่เรื่องใด ถ้านิ้วนี้ยาวกว่าฝ่ามือ เป็นผู้รอบคอบดี ถ้าสั้นกว่าฝ่ามือ เป็นคนใจร้อน มักตกลงใจเร็ว
นิ้วกลางสำคัญเพราะเป็นนิ้วที่รับเส้นโชคอันหมายถึงอาชีพและวิถีทางแห่งชีวิต และเป็นนิ้วที่แสดงถึงนิสัยโดยตรง อีกตำราบอกถ้านิ้วกลางยาวเกินไปเป็นคนเซื่องซึม สั้นเกินไปเป็นคนรุกราน อยู่ไม่สุข ตรงจึงจะดี ถ้าไม่ตรงคือถือตนเป็นใหญ่ ถ้าแอ่นหงายไปข้างหลังมาก มักขัดสนหรือกำพร้าบิดามารดามาแต่น้อย
แต่ถ้ามีเส้นคาดรอบวงนิ้ว แม้สุขแต่ก็ทุกข์ทางใจ มีรอยก่ายไขว้กันตรงข้อหรือเป็นกากบาท ไม่ดี มีตำหนิหรือพิการ มักอยู่ห่างจากมารดาดังนั้นการที่เราสวมใส่แหวนก็เหมือนเอาอะไรมารัดตรงนิ้วกลาง ท่านว่าไม่เหมาะไม่ควร
